Electrical Safety

Electrical Safety First – Always

Electricity is powerful but you can’t see it, hear it or smell it.

Government figures estimate that there are around 10 fatal and 2,000 non-fatal electric shock accidents in the home each year, and around 19 fatal and 880 non-fatal shock accidents a year in the workplace.

It is estimated that a staggering 12,500 electrical fires occur in homes across the UK each year.  Although many incidents are caused by faulty appliances rather than the electrical installation itself, a properly installed and well-maintained electrical installation can save lives – It will give you peace of mind and can even lower your insurance premiums.

Periodic electrical tests and inspections for homeowners and landlords is recommended every 10 years or change of occupancy.

Commercial testing should be carried out every 5 years or change of occupancy and a routine check every single year. This minimal investment in safety can make all the difference to livelihoods as well as lives – Don’t take risks with electricity – It just isn’t necessary.

As you would imagine, we are fully and comprehensively insured for any eventuality and always adhere to our strict Health and Safety policy, including Working at Height Directives.
